Instructions for Volunteers

The Office of the Secretary looks forward to having our Stadium Volunteer Ambassadors show graduates and guests what makes Rutgers so special, and how we go the extra mile to celebrate our students.

Ambassadors are needed on any of the following dates:

  • Friday, May 12, 2017, from 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. to help set up the stadium, and/or
  • Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. to help set up the stadium, and/or
  • Sunday, May 14, 2017, between 6:15 a.m.–1:30 p.m. depending on your role during University Commencement.

Volunteer Tasks

Stadium Volunteer Ambassadors assist in various capacities to:

  • Help with the stadium setup
  • Guide the academic procession
  • Check the ambassadors and marshals in/out
  • Greet students and guests at the stadium and answer their questions
  • Assist guests with special needs
  • Distribute programs, spiritmakers, and information to graduates as they line up for the academic procession onto the stadium field
  • Help gather our statistics
  • Assist students and their guests as they exit the stadium to locate their shuttle bus back to their parking location
  • Package remaining items at the end of the academic procession and ceremony


All ambassadors receive:

  • A Commencement T-shirt
  • A thank-you gift
  • Entry into a volunteer raffle
  • Parking for Commencement
  • A light breakfast before Commencement
  • Training for Commencement
  • Recognition on the video screen in the stadium

And, you'll have the satisfaction of making the day even better for our newest alumni. A few hours of your help will make a big difference!

Training Sessions

Training sessions for Stadium Volunteer Ambassadors will be conducted at High Point Solutions Stadium in early May. If you have any questions regarding the ambassadors, please call 848-932-2469.
