Family & Friends

It takes a lot of hard work to earn a college degree. You—the friends and family of Rutgers graduates—have provided care, guidance, and support to the students receiving diplomas. So as much as Rutgers University Commencement marks a day of congratulations, it's also one of pride and gratitude.

Rutgers University Commencement

Join in the celebration of the 249th Anniversary Commencement on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. in High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. Guests may enter the stadium as early as 10:30 a.m. This event will celebrate our graduating class from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

Tickets are not required, and you may bring as many people as you like to witness this memorable event. Stadium seating is unassigned.

School Convocations

Graduating students will also enjoy additional recognition and festivities at individual school convocations and ceremonies held at various times in the days around Rutgers University Commencement. Please check with your student's school for details and information on tickets or limits on guests. Dates and locations for your school's convocation will be posted soon:

Tips for Planning Your Day

  • Wear comfortable shoes. Stadium flooring is all cement.
  • Bring your sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • To speed entry into the stadium, leave large purses or bags at home. Cameras (without a bag), umbrellas, binoculars, strollers, and seat cushions may be carried in on their own or in a clear plastic bag.
  • Be sure you have your special Commencement parking hangtags. If you're driving to campus, you'll need this. Students should register for parking hangtags for themselves and their guests beginning March 23, 2015. See the Parking Guidelines page for details.

Mark the Moment

Family and friends can have professional photos taken outside the stadium before and after the ceremony. You will be able to view the photos online and purchase them from the vendor.

For Purchase at the Stadium

You can buy flowers and other gifts at the stadium for your graduate.
