Rutgers University Commencement

Celebrate your achievement during the 251st Anniversary Commencement on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at 10 a.m. in High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.

At this much anticipated ceremony for graduating students of Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, the president of the university will confer all undergraduate and graduate degrees awarded throughout the academic year. Plan now to enjoy the day:

  • Special Commencement parking hangtags are required to park on campus on Sunday, May 14. See our Parking & Getting Around section for more information.
  • You can invite as many guests as you'd like, as tickets are not required for Commencement at the stadium. Gates will open at 8 a.m.

Parking

Graduating students must register online to receive up to two free Commencement parking hangtags beginning on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. Parking is assigned by zone on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check back on March 20 to register for your hangtags on our Parking Guidelines page.

School Convocations

Schools also hold convocations with their own distinctive traditions where you will receive individual recognition. Check with your individual school's dean's office for further details and information on tickets or limits on convocation guests. Learn more about your School's Convocation.

Academic Regalia

All students, including those in the Armed Forces, who plan to participate on the field at the stadium during University Commencement and in individual convocation ceremonies must wear academic regalia. Regalia will be available for purchase beginning April 3, 2017, at Barnes & Noble at Rutgers bookstore in New Brunswick. Students in the schools affiliated with Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences may purchase regalia available exclusively online at oakhalli.com/colleges/rbhs from March 6 to April 22.  School of Nursing students can learn more at nursing.rutgers.edu/graduation/regalia.html. School of Pharmacy students can visit Barnes & Noble in New Brunswick for regalia information.

Don't forget to pick up any honor society or other recognition cords and stoles, if applicable.

Attend the Grad Fair on April 12: Stop by Barnes & Noble at Rutgers, located at 100 Somerset Street in New Brunswick, to purchase your cap and gown, learn about and see the selection of class rings, personalized announcements, diploma frames, and much more during this exciting time.

Mark the Moment

You can have professional photos taken outside the stadium before and after the ceremony. Following Commencement, you will be able to view photos online through the GradImages website and purchase them directly from the vendor. Check with your school to determine if you have any additional school-specific photo opportunities.

Ceremonies in Newark and Camden
